Check your hair. Then join the call.
In the preview
One click opens a small camera preview under the notch, so you can check your hair or your lighting before a call. Escape closes it. If you use it before calls, it can also open by itself for a meeting heads-up, and one switch turns that off.
- It is kept out of screen sharing where macOS allows it.
- It is never recorded or saved.
- The camera turns off when it closes.
Not recorded. Never saved.
Camera off. This page never uses your camera. The mirror here is a drawing.

Your coding agents, one glance away.

- Optional, and off until you turn it on.

When family writes, the notch shows who.
Experimental
An optional part of Notch Companion for WhatsApp. Here is how it works, step by step.
- Off until you turn it on. Turn on Family in Notch Companion and add only the people or groups you want, by their exact chat name. Only those chats reach Notch Companion.
- Connect the tab. Open WhatsApp Web in Chrome and connect it with our small Chrome extension. It talks only to the app on your Mac. If you close the tab, connect it again.
- They message, the notch shows who. When someone you added sends a new message, their portrait and a short preview appear at the notch. Click it to see the message in Notch Companion, where Escape puts it away; otherwise it steps aside by itself. A group shows the group's character, or the sender's own portrait when you've matched them.
- Portraits. Pick a drawn character and tune its hair, glasses and colours, or start one from a photo on your Mac. In development:a full illustration of your photo made by an outside image service, which asks for its own yes before any photo leaves your Mac.
Experimental. Needs WhatsApp Web open and connected in Chrome. Passes on only the chats you add. Old messages aren't replayed.
Quiet. Nobody has written yet. Send a demo message below.
Nothing is on until you turn it on.

- No accounts. Nothing to sign up for.

Questions, answered plainly.
Can I get it yet?
Not yet. It is an engineering preview, still in testing. Nothing on this page installs anything. Parts marked In the preview are built and in testing. Experimental parts may change. In development means designed, not built yet.
Does my Mac need a notch?
No. On a Mac or display without one, a slim line at the top centre of the screen opens the same panel.
Does Family read all my WhatsApp chats?
No. It passes on only the chats you add by name, only while WhatsApp Web is open and connected in Chrome, and it doesn't replay old messages.
Is it an Apple or WhatsApp product?
No. Independent app, not affiliated with Apple or WhatsApp. It's built to work from the keyboard too, and those checks are still in testing.
Still in testing. See you at the top of the screen.
When it is ready for everyday use, this is where it will be. Nothing is for sale.
